French actress Isabelle Huppert is currently filming a Hong Sang-soo movie in Korea, a source close to the Korean director told 10Asia on Thursday.
"Huppert recently came to Korea and started filming the movie in the North Jeolla Province," the source said although not revealing any details on the name nor plot of the production also starring Korean actor Yu Jun-sang.
Their upcoming pic will crank up on July 17 and open in theaters during the latter half of this year, the source added.
Isabelle Huppert has appeared in over 90 films and television productions since 1971 and has had 16 of her movies compete at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. She also won the award for best actress twice at Cannes, for her role in "Violette Noziere (1978)" and "La pianiste (2001)."
Hong is considered one of the most prominent filmmakers in Korea who is known for unique vision and originality. He has won international acclaim with his films which include "The Day a Pig Fell into the Well" (1996), "Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors" (2000) and "Woman Is the Future of Man" (2004).
