Korean pic "Re-encounter" set to open in theaters in Japan

Korean drama picture "Re-encounter" will make its ways to meet moviegoers in Japan next month.

On Thursday, the pic's official Japanese website showed that "Re-encounter" will open in the country under the translated title "Short Memory" on June 9,

The site added that "Re-encounter" director Min Yong-geun will attend the press conference for the film, which will take place in Tokyo on June 5.

Starring actress You Da-in and actor Yoo Yeon-seok, "Re-encounter" tells the story of Hye-hwa (You) who becomes a single mother at the young age of 18. She drops out of school to become a hairdresser after the child's father Han-soo (Yoo) runs off.

Hye-hwa pities herself and unable to move on with her life when five years later, Han-soo returns with the news that their child, whom she thought was dead, turns out to be alive.

"Re-encounter," which opened in local theaters in February of last year, was awarded the grand prize at the 36th Seoul Independent Film Festival and You was handed the best new actress award from the Korean Association of Film Critics.
