"Gaksital," "Ghost" neck-and-neck on Wed-Thu ratings chart

KBS' "Gaksital" and SBS' "Ghost" are in a thrilling battle to win the top spot of the Wednesday and Thursday primetime ratings chart.

After a neck-and-neck race with "Ghost," "Gaksital" kept its place secure atop the chart this week with an average viewership rating of 17 percent, according to TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics) on Friday.

Starring actor Joo Won, the action-packed drama has gaining more and more positive reviews from TV critics and the audience with its well-plotted story of a Korean hero who fights against the Japanese imperialistic conquerors.

The runner-up, "Ghost," has finally broke its own record by logging 16.4 percent in the same time frame, a rise of 1.6 percent from last week's figure.

The show has been showing a steady rise in popularity after kicking off the run in the last week of May, with a comparably soft launch of a 11.4 percent.

Despite some doubtful opinions over the complicated storyline, the cyber crime TV series has been attracting more viewers by capturing serious cyber problems in the modern society.

Meanwhile, MBC’s "I Do I Do," starring actress Kim Suna and Lee Jang-woo's, came last after pulling in 9.3 percent of the total TV audience this week.

The romantic comedy saw a rise of a percentage point from last week, supported by the viewers' sympathy over the single mom’s heartbreaking story.

On the AGB Nielson Media Research chart, the three series were placed in the same order but recorded slightly different numbers.

While "Gaksital" grabbed the top seed with 15.4 percent, "Ghost" and "I Do I Do" followed next with 13.8 and 9.3 percent, respectively, during the same time frame.
