"Gaksital," "Phantom" neck-and-neck in ratings on Wed-Thu lineup

KBS' "Gaksital" and SBS' "Phantom" is going neck-and-neck on the Wednesday and Thursday primetime ratings chart with a gap of 0.4 percentage points.

"Gaksital," starring Joo Won and Ji Se-yeon, continued to lead the pack on June 6 and 7 with an average rating of 14 percent, which is an increase of 1.5 percentage points from the first two episodes last week, TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics) showed.

This is the second installment on KBS this year that helped the broadcaster to see success on Wednesday and Thursday nights, after its former TV series, "Man From the Equator" scored multiple non-consecutive wins competing against SBS' "Rooftop Prince" and MBC's "The King 2Hearts."

It seems too early, however, to cement "Gaksital" as the stable winner of the lineup, with SBS' "Phantom" chasing after the drama fast by drawing in 13.6 percent of the total viewers during the same period.

With big name celebrities of So Ji-sub and Lee Yeon-hee, "Phantom" posted 11.4 percent rating during its premiere last week.

While both shows saw a boost in its ratings by more than a percentage points, ratings of actress Kim Suna and actor Lee Jang-woo's "I Do I Do" climbed only 0.5 percentage points to pocket 8.6 percent of the viewers this Wednesday and Thursday.

On the data reported by AGB Nielson Media Research, meanwhile, "Gaksital" is running fast by scoring 14.6 percent viewership this week.

Coming three percentage points behind is "Phantom," with 11.6 percent rating, and "I Do I Do" came last with nine percent of the audience tuned in during the time frame.
