American R&B and hip-hop artist Akon is visiting Korea this summer to attend the only beach music festival in the country.
Akon has been announced to join an impressive lineup of the 2012 Green Groove Festival, which will open at Daechon Beach, located in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province, on July 21 and 22, according to the organizer's website.
Some of the most popular bands are also expected to bring music lovers to their feet at the annual festival, such as rock band DELISPICE, which produced one of the most popular Korean songs, "Chow Chow," and indie group 10cm, whose recent hits include "Americano" and "It's So Nice."
Embracing different music genres, the 2-day event will also introduce K-pop duo Mighty Mouth, electronica group House Rulez, Korea's first-ever brass ska band KINGSTON RUDIESKA, six-member group Gigs and Korea's pop band Linus' Blanket.
Daechon Beach is known for holding one of the biggest regional festivals in Korea, "Boryeong Mud Festival."
Offering over 3.5 kilometers of sand, about 2 million people visit the place every year and the GGF is expected to grow as the region's next representative festival.
