CNBLUE’s new album makes shining debut on Mnet chart

Rock band CNBLUE, who made their comeback to the local music scene last week, saw their new song “Intuition” place No. 1 on music cable channel Mnet’s weekly singles chart during the week of March 21 to 27.

“Intuition,” the title track to the group’s first regular album “FIRST STEP,” sings of the ominous intuition one has of breaking up with the woman he loves.

Consequently, previous winner “Heartsore Story,” an R&B ballad by Wheesung which sings of bidding farewell, got pushed back a step to second place.

The song is the title track to Wheesung's third single album that also features rapping by boy band BEAST member Jun-hyung.

Third on the list was “I Will Always Miss You" by rock singer Yoon Do-hyun which shot up an impressive 108 steps from the previous week.

"I Will Always Miss You," which is a classic K-pop song of the 80s originally sung by songstress Lee Sun-hee, was recently re-made by Yoon for his performance on broadcaster MBC’s survival show titled “I’m A Singer.”

Meanwhile, CNBLUE triumphed on the album chart as well, taking first place with “FIRST STEP” for the same week.

CNBLUE's new album which went on sale starting last Monday is made up of a total 12 tracks including “One Time” and I Don’t Know Why” which, upon earlier release in Japan, were ranked first on the weekly Oricon Indies Chart and No. 8 on Oricon singles daily chart.

The next album on the list was “I’m A Singer: Competition 1,” which climbed 58 steps to reach the No. 2 spot.

Released last Sunday, the album features some of the most highly noted singers in Korea who prove their singing prowess by performing to classic K-pop songs of the 80s including “You Are Like A Rose,” “Watercolor of a Rainy Day” “Crush” which also made it to the top 20 on the latest singles chart.

Big Bang’s 4th Mini-album which had remained the champion on the chart for the past four weeks with hit songs “TONIGHT” “CAFE” and “WHAT IS RIGHT,” stepped down for the first time to land at No. 3.

The album which is five-member group’s first album released in over two years is composed of music that incorporates hip-hop, electronica and dance to its numbers.
