Lee Seung-gi, INFINITE’s Sung-kyu Make Strong Debut atop Gaon Charts

Korean singer-actor Lee Seung-gi has debuted at No. 1 spot on Gaon singles chart with his new song “Return,” holding off “Superstar K4” winner Roy Kim and retro-soul darling Lee Hi.

The 25-year-old artist’s heartbreaking tune, listed in his new mini-album “Forest” released on November 22, topped the singles chart during the week of November 18 to 24, according to Gaon’s website on Thursday.

Following next with the ballad of Lee is Roy Kim’s “October Rain,” which helped the young musician grab the top seed on Mnet’s singing competition program “Superstar K4” on last Friday.

YG Entertainment’s rookie artist Lee Hi, who is one of the most popular female musicians this year, landed at the third place with her doleful song “Scarecrow.”

Making her official singing debut in the end of October, Lee also took the No. 5 title with her debut single “1, 2, 3, 4” during the same time frame, which topped the singles chart for the third week in a row.

Meanwhile, Juniel, another up-and-rising songstress in the K-pop scene, debuted at the No. 4 spot with folk song “Bad Man.”

Other tracks loved by Korean public list NOEL’s “Things that I Couldn’t Say,” C-CLOWN’s “Far away…Young Love,” Geeks and SISTAR member Soyou’s duet song “Officially Missing You, Too,” Zia’s “Tears Falling Down” and Ailee’s “I’ll Show You.”

On Gaon album chart of last week, INFINITE’s leader Sung-kyu claimed the No. 1 title with his first mini-album “Another Me,” pushing down the previous chart-topper B1A4’s third mini-album “In The Wind” to the second place. Lee Seung-gi’s new album “Forest” rounded off the top three on the chart.
