"Light and Shadow" easily overshadows competition

MBC drama "Light and Shadow" is continuing to stand strong atop the Monday and Tuesday primetime ratings chart.

"Light and Shadow," which goes around the story of the show business here in the 1960s, had the support of 19.2 percent of the total viewers on June 25 and 26, according to data polled by TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics).

With "Light and Shadow" not showing a big movement on the chart, TNmS showed some indications that the show biz TV series may soon face a tight competition from SBS' popular drama, "THE CHASER."

Starring Ju Won and Shin Hyun-joon, "THE CHASER" is poised to chase off its competitors on the primetime lineup with its continued incline in ratings.

While it is off to a smooth start with positive numbers, the show had another increase of 0.5 percentage points from the previous week and posted 13.7 percent in the same period.

Placed in the third spot is KBS' "Big," in which Gong Yoo, Lee Min-jung and Bae Suzy are playing main roles.

According to TNmS' figure, "Big" ratings began to tail off this week and pulled in 8.1 percent of the total audience during the time frame.

Meanwhile, the AGB Nielson Media Research ratings chart also proved that "Light and Shadow" is maintaining its reign over other broadcasters with an average rating of 18.6 percent this week.

"THE CHASER" and "Big" followed next in order by each attracting 12.8 and 8.4 percent of the viewers.
