SM Entertainment artists likely to attend this year's Mnet Asian Music Awards

The artists of top Korean agency SM Entertainment -- mainly Super Junior and Girls' Generation -- are likely to attend the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) taking place later this month.

"I will answer you by saying that their artists are now appearing on Mnet's 'M! CountDown' because we have settled our differences," Mnet's director of chief Shin Hyung-kwan said at the press conference for the music fest in Seoul today.

SM's artists had not attended the MAMA since 2009 due to issues between the agency and Mnet on Mnet's guidelines and rating system for the show and its weekly music program "M! CountDown."

"MAMA is not an award ceremony for just one agency but for all the artists who have worked really hard during the year," Shin explained. "We feel that there are many improvements to be made and we are in the process of contacting more artists to take part in the ceremony this year."

The 2011 MAMA will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore on November 29 under the theme of 'music makes on' where music by Asian and international artists will come together.
