Kim Dong-wan to release a duet song with Japanese songstress

Singer and actor Kim Dong-wan will release a duet song with Japanese songstress Kohmi Hirose in August.

According to Kim’s official website on Wednesday, Kim will release his first Japanese single “My Summer Girl” on August 10, largely composed of two songs; a title track of the same name and "Time Machine," both written and composed by Japan's famed female singer-songwriter Hirose.

The website explained that the 45-year-old songstress who is known for many hit songs including “Promise” and “Romance no Kamisama,” was the one to suggest the collaboration first.

The album will be released in two editions, a CD+DVD version containing four tracks including title song “My Summer Girl,” “Time Machine” and the instrumental versions of each song plus a DVD containing a promotional video of “My Summer Girl” and a commentary clip of Kim, while the CD-only edition will contain a bonus track "My Summer Girl" performed by Kim alone.

Kim, 32, made his debut in 1998 as one of the lead singers in the six-member boy band Shinhwa and has since expanded his career into acting, appearing in several dramas including "Goodbye Sadness" (KBS, 2005) and "My Dearest Love" (SBS, 2007) and movie "Spin Kick, Taekwon Boys" (2004).

Last December, he advanced into the J-pop market with his solo album “KIM DONGWAN JAPAN PREMIUM BEST” composed of his old and new songs and held a live concert in the country which recorded a sellout the day the tickets went on sale.

He is also starring in Korean musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” which premiered on May 14 and will run till August 21 in Seoul.
