DreamWorks’ animation “Kung Fu Panda 2” remained No. 1 on the weekend box office for a second consecutive week, according to estimates by Korean Box Office Information System (KOBIS) on Tuesday.
“Kung Fu Panda 2” which is the second "Kung Fu Panda" series that kicked off in 2008, attracted a total 894,141 viewers in 887 theaters from June 3 to 5.
Action thriller “X-Men: First Class” starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Rose Byrne, entered the chart at second place after selling a total 633,166 tickets in 691 theaters.
The movie, which is the fifth installment of X-Men series, takes the story back to the past to show how the superheroes came to establish their identity and how they came to take sides.
“Sunny,” starring Yoo Ho-jeong, Sim Eun-kyeong and Jin Hee-kyeong, which looks back to the youthful moment of the 80s through the memory of seven women in their mid-thirties, has remained within the top 10 on the box office since it opened on May 4.
Other films in fourth to tenth place on the box office were “Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” “Mama,” “The Resident,” “Moby Dick,” “HEAD, “I’m sorry and thank you” and “Copacabana.”
