"Light and Shadow" keeps No. 1 status till last episode

After spending 20 consecutive weeks atop the Monday and Tuesday primetime ratings chart, "Light and Shadow" has ended its grand eight month run.

The two final episodes of 밚ight and Shadow, which aired on July 2 and 3, had the support of 19.8 percent of the total viewers, according to data polled by TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics) on Wednesday.

The drama, which spotlights the Korean show business in the 1960s, ended the story with the main character Kang Ki-tae (played by Ahn Jae-wook), scooping up major awards at prestigious award ceremonies and sharing the honor with his crew.

As the follow-up to 밚ight and Shadow, "Golden Time" will hit the airwaves from next week, starring Lee Sun-kyun of "Coffee Prince" and Hwang Jung-eum.

The title of the medical series is a professional term used in the medical field, which refers to the time period that is possible to prevent a patient's death after a casualty has sustained a traumatic injury.

Following the multiple week chart-topper is SBS' "THE CHASER," which began its air on May 25.

The Son Hyun-joo's starrer shattered its own record this week, by logging 14.7 percent in ratings.

The story, which goes around the story of a father뭩 revenge on the person who has murdered his daughter, has gained much attention due to the well-structured plot and the cast members' acting skills.

Meanwhile, Gong Yoo and Lee Min-jung's KBS starrer, "Big," came last after pulling in 8.2 percent of the total TV audience during the same period.

The romantic comedy has failed to power up the broadcaster again this week, bringing down the initial expectation of TV critics with the ensemble cast of big name stars.

In the meantime, the AGB Nielson Media Research chart showed the three series in the same order but with slightly different numbers.

While "Light and Shadow" grabbed the top seed with 18.6 percent in ratings, "THE CHASER" and "Big" followed next, each with 13.3 and 8.2 percent during the same time frame.
