Angelina Jolie to visit Korea for film "Salt"

Hollywood movie star Angelina Jolie will be visiting Korea for the first time to promote her latest pic "Salt," according to the film's distributor Sony Pictures on Monday.

Sony announced through a press release that the actress will come to Seoul for a meet-and-greet with local fans on July 28, a day ahead of the film's local opening the following day.

The action flick was originally scheduled to open in Korea on July 22, when the film will be released simultaneously worldwide, but the date was pushed back following Jolie's decision to visit the country.

In the film, the 34-year-old actress plays a CIA agent named Evelyn Salt who is accused of being a spy for Russian intelligence organization KGB.

It is the second collaboration between the actress and director Phillip Noyce, who directed her in the 1999 pic "The Bone Collector."

Born to veteran Hollywood actor Jon Voight and the late actress Marcheline Bertrand, she has starred in numerous films to date including "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" series, "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "Girl, Interrupted" for which she won an Academy Award for best supporting actress in 2000.
