Kim Beom has 2.5 million friends on Facebook

Korean actor Kim Beom has opened an official Facebook account which has attracted over 2.5 million friends worldwide.

On Thursday, King Kong announced in a press release that Kim has become friends with over 2,598,132 people from Indonesia, the United States, Singapore, Mexico, France and 20 other countries since opening the account on April 18.

He is currently ranked at No. 5 amongst other top celebrities who have many friends on the social networking site including Jackie Chan, Ashton Kutcher, Lee Min-ho and Taraji Penda Henson, in order.

"I opened my official Facebook account in order to stay in touch with my fans worldwide," Kim was quoted as saying. "I will update the account with fun and recent news about myself."

"We were amazed to see that Kim has attracted over two million friends on Facebook in just few days after it was created," an official from his agency said in the statement. "We feel that his popularity has increased after he promoted his dramas 'Boys Over Flowers' and 'Still, Marry Me.'"

Kim made his debut in 2006 and has starred in several dramas and movies such as MBC's sitcom "High Kick" and KBS' popular hit series "Boys Over Flowers" alongside Korean stars Ku Hye-sun and Lee Min-ho.
