Girls' Generation's "Gee" places at No. 2 on Oricon chart
The second Japanese single by Korean female idols Girls' Generation placed at No. 2 on the prestigious Oricon chart on the day of its release.
According to Oricon's daily chart, "Gee," the girls' latest Japanese single which went on sale on October 20, entered the chart in second place which is the highest rank for a Korean girl group to ever reach.
They have led a successful music career in Japan since August this year, attracting 20,000 fans to their first showcase in the country and becoming the first Korean girl group to rank in the top 5 on the Oricon weekly DVD chart with their DVD "‘少女時代到 ~日記念盤~New Beginning of Girls' Generation."
Composed of members Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Jessica, Seohyun, Yoona, Yuri and Sooyoung, Girls' Generation made their debut in 2007 with their single album "Into the New World."

The nine-member girl group is currently preparing for their return to the local music scene with their mini-album named "Hoot," which will go on sale on October 27.
