Actress Jeon Do-youn from a scene in film "The Housemaid." [Sidus F&H]

Cannes best actress award winner Jeon Do-youn will appear in public for the first time in a while this week, taking part in Asia's largest film fest Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF).


Her agency N.O.A Entertainment announced through a press release Tuesday that Jeon will walk the red carpet of PIFF's opening ceremony on Thursday and talk with moviegoers after a screening of her film "The Housemaid" the following day.

Based on a classic from the 1960s, the latest version of "The Housemaid" was helmed by critically acclaimed director Im Sang-soo and starred Jeon, Lee Jung-jae and Seo Woo.

The film competed at the Cannes Film Festival in May and was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival last month. It has also been invited ot the Chicago International Film Festival set for this month.

PIFF, into its fifteenth year, will run for nine days from October 7 to 15 at Korea's second-largest city Busan.
