“Seo-young, My Daughter” Continues to Perch atop Weekly Chart

KBS weekend drama “Seo-young, My Daughter” has stretched its winning streak for three weeks in a row on the weekly TV ratings chart.

“Seo-young, My Daughter” topped the chart with 32.4 percent of the total viewers tuned in during the week of October 15 to 21, according to data compiled by TNmS [Total National Multimedia Statistics].

The family drama shattered its previous record over the weekend by showing Lee Sam-jae [played by actor Chun Ho-jin] watching his daughter Seo-young's [Lee Bo-young] marriage far from a distance.

Chasing the chart-topper closely behind is KBS daily TV series “Reaching for the Stars,” which earned the support of 30.2 percent of the audience during the same time frame.

With a pretty big gap from the runner-up, KBS comedy program “Gag Concert" ranked at No. 3 with the help of its guest star Park Hae-jin of "Seo-young." The episode scored a rating of 21.3 percent.

“KBS 9 o’clock News” and MBC weekend drama “May Queen” each followed next with 20.7 and 19.6 percent and rounded out the top five.

Other popular TV programs in the top ten last week are SBS’ variety show “I Like Sundays,” SBS drama “Still You,” KBS’ cultural program “Love in Asia,” MBC’ comedy program “Infinite Challenge” and KBS’ hit drama “The Innocent Man.”

Meanwhile, data from AGB Nielson Media Research showed the shows in the same order but with slightly different figures from the TNmS’ during the same period.

While “Seo-young, My Daughter” dominated the chart with the viewership of 30.1 percent, “Reaching for the Stars” and “Gag Concert” each sat at No. 2 and No. 3 after registering 27.3 and 20.5 percent.
