Jung Woo-sung nails Hong Kong pic "The Killer" remake
Actor Jung Woo-sung has been cast for the English-language remake of Hong Kong action film "The Killer," according to his agency Taurus Films on Monday.
An official at Taurus told 10Asia over the phone that Jung will play the main character in the upcoming movie, also named "The Killer," after John Woo's original film from 1989 which starred Chow Yun-fat, Danny Lee and Sally Yeh.
The remake, set for release in Hollywood next year, will be helmed by Korean director Lee Jae-han, written by newcomer Josh Campbell, while produced by John Woo and will be filmed in the Los Angeles of the U.S.
This will make it the second time for Jung to work with the director and producer of the upcoming production -- he starred in Lee's movie "A Moment to Remember" in 2004 and just last year, was the main male lead of Woo's martial arts pic "Reign of Assassins."
Jung, 38, has been one of Korea's most widely recognized movie stars since appearing in "Beat" (1997) and got recognition overseas through Kim Jee-woon's critically acclaimed "The Good, The Bad, The Weird" (2008).
