SM chief Lee Soo-man gives lecture at Stanford

Lee Soo-man, the founder of Korea’s biggest talenthouse SM Entertainment, gave a special lecture at U.S. Stanford University this week, according to his company SM Entertainment on Friday.

SM explained in a press release that over 100 MBA students attended Lee’s lecture held at the Knight Management Center in Stanford University on Tuesday to listen to his business strategy in globalizing the Hallyu (Korean Wave) including the company's unique form of management which is being benchmarked around the world and is the secret to his success, all based on his theory of culture technology.

The statement added that Lee’s 17-year-old son John Lee interpreted his father’s speech from Korean into English for Lee's second time speaking at Stanford. Lee had given a lecture at the school late last month as well.

Lee has already spoken at numerous other lectures regarding Hallyu, namely at Harvard’s MBC course from 2006 to 2008 as well as other business schools including Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Cornell.

He was also invited to give a keynote speech at the “2010 Harvard Asia Business Conference” held at Harvard Business School last year and this year, was one of the speakers for the “Global Startup Workshop 2011” co-hosted by Seoul National University and MIT on March 25.

Lee Soo-man, a former singer, founded SM Entertainment in 1995 which became one of the most influential entertainment agencies in Korea alongside YG and JYP Entertainment, well known for training popular singers that date back to the times of H.O.T. and S.E.S. in the late 90s.
