Kim Bum-soo’s “Please” takes win on Gaon chart

Singer Kim Bum-soo’s ballad “Please” debuted atop Gaon's weekly singles chart during the week of March 27 to April 2.

“Please,” which pleads a lover for another chance, was featured on public broadcaster MBC’s Sunday reality show “I’m A Singer” that shows seven of the top Korean singers in the country competing against each other.

The latest mission for the singers was to perform each other's hit songs in which Kim landed with "Please," originally from songstress Lee So-ra’s fourth album released in 2000.

Consequently, this pulled down previous winner “Intuition” by four-member rock band CNBLUE to the No. 2 spot.

“Intuition,” which is the title song for the group’s first regular album “FIRST STEP,” sings of the ominous intuition one has of breaking up with his lover.

Another new entrant to the chart was R&B piece “You Are My Lady” sung by Kim Gun-mo, from the same Sunday reality show.

“You Are My Lady” is originally from singer Jung Yup’s first regular album “Thinkin’ Back On Me” released last November, expressing how much a guy misses his lover.

Meanwhile on the albums chart, CNBLUE’s first regular album “FIRST STEP” continued to remain the winner for second week-in-a-row.

The album, released late last month, is made up of 12 tracks and includes many of songs the members themselves made as well as their hit songs such as “One Time” and “I Don’t Know Why" from earlier releases in Japan.

Arriving second on the chart was U-kiss’s fifth mini-album “Bran New Kiss,” composed of a total six tracks including the title track “0330” which is a sad hip-hop tune.

Coming in at third was singer Kim Tae-woo’s limited edtion of “T-school,” made up of eleven songs that include title track “Echo,” a special track “Brothers & Me” which he sang with Park Jin-young and Rain and a hidden track “I Hope Only You Hear It” while featuring posters, a photo book and a booklet.
