Korean actor Park Shin-yang will be returning to the small screen as the male lead in an upcoming television series, according to the show's producer Apollo Pictures on Friday.

Apollo announced that Park will be playing the role of Yoon Ji-hoon, who conducts autopsies at a state-run institute of scientific investigation, in the new medical drama tentatively titled "Heaven."

"Yoon Ji-hoon is someone who has a cold personality and doesn't trust what others say. He is someone who has various personalities and is a three-dimensional character so we thought with Park's experience, he would be able to pull it off," an official from Apollo was quoted as saying.

"Heaven," about the difficult circumstances and cases which arise at the National Institute of Scientific Investigation, will be helmed by famed producer Jang Hang-joon, who is well-known for his works such as films "Break Out" and "Attack the Gas Station 2."

Apollo has yet to cast the female lead, while filming for the new series will being in November.

The actor rose to fame for his role in hit SBS series "Love in Paris" alongside Korean actress Kim Jung-eun.
