The manager of actor Shin Hyun-joon, identified only by his last name Jang, dropped assault charges against the 40-year-old actor, according to police on Monday.

Jang last week had filed a complaint against Shin, saying he was hit on the stairs of a bar in Seoul and on several other occasions.

Seoul Gangnam Police Station, in charge of the case, said Jang dropped the charges since Shin apologized both to him and publicly. Police too found no signs of assault on Jang's body.

Accordingly, the actor will not be punished for hitting his manager despite his acknowledgement of doing so.

Late on Friday, Shin had held a press conference to explain the accusation against him saying: "I hit him in the chest while making him stand still. I almost ruined ties with someone I had worked with for seven years because of a mistake Jang made so it is true I was very angry that day. I did it as a warning."

Shin has starred in several television series and scores of hit films, including "The Gingko Bed" and "Marrying the Mafia", since his debut in 1990.
