Film "Stateless Things" will compete at this year's Venice Film Festival set for this month, making it the only Korean picture invited to the fest.

On Friday, the official website of the fest revealed that "Stateless Things," helmed by director Kim Kyung-mook, will compete against 54 other international films under the Orizzonti category during the 68th annual Venice Film Festival which will take place in Italy from August 31 to September 10.

"Stateless Things" tells the story of Hyun who is a homosexual prostitute that meets a separated fund manager named Seonghoon. The two then begin living together till things start to fall apart after Seonghoon's wife visits their place.

Known as one of the oldest film festivals in the world, the Venice Film Festival was founded by Count Giuseppe Volpi in 1932 which takes place every year on the island of Lido, Venice. Screenings take place in the historical Palazzo del Cinema on the Lungomare Marconi.
