Hong Sang-soo, Kim Ki-duk, Na Hong-jin pics invited to Cannes
Feature films by critically acclaimed Korean directors Hong Sang-soo, Kim Ki-duk and Na Hong-jin have been invited to the 64th annual Festival de Cannes next month.
According to the official website of the prestigious film fest on Friday, director Hong's film "The Day He Arrives," Kim's pic "Arirang" and Na's movie "Yellow Sea" will be screened under the noncompetitive Un Certain Regard category at the Festival de Cannes to be held at Cannes, France from May 11 to 22.
American filmmaker Gus Van Sant's film "Restless," Mia Wasikowska, Jane Adams and Schuyler Fisk, will open the Un Certain Regard section, while Serbian auteur Emir Kusturica, who has won multiple prizes at the fest, will preside over the jury for the category.
Last year's winner of the Prize Un Certain Regard was Hong Sang-soo's film "Ha Ha Ha," starring Yoo Jun-sang and Ye Ji-won. The pic talked about an aspiring filmmaker and a film critic who meet in the seaside city of Tong-young and share their life stories and experiences.
Known as one of the world's oldest and prestigious film festivals, Festival de Cannes was founded in 1946 in the resort town of Cannes in the south of France.

This year American actor, director and producer Robert De Niro will be President of the Jury, French film director Michel Gondry will head the short film and Cinefondation, French actress Melanie Laurent will be the mistress of the ceremonies and Korean director Bong Joon-ho will be the President for the Camera d'or Jury.
