Super Junior and Super Junior-M score wins at award ceremony in China
Korean idols Super Junior and sub-unit Super Junior-M won honors at the first annual Global Chinese Golden Chart Awards over the weekend, according to the official website on Monday.
Super Junior took the top prize under the category of best-selling J-pop/K-pop Album of the Year for their fourth full-length album "BONAMANA," while Super Junior-M won for most popular group at the Golden Chinese Golden Chart Awards held at the Taipei Arena in Taipei on April 9.
Super Junior, often referred among fans as “SuJu” in short, is also composed of 13 members also including Lee Teuk, Heechul, Kang-in, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon and Kibum.
They debuted in late 2005 as one of the largest boy bands in the world but have recently been promoting themselves with just 10 members. Kang-in is serving his mandatory military duties, Kibum will be focusing on his acting career and Hangeng is currently embroiled in a legal battle with SM.
Nevertheless, the boys have been one of the most popular K-pop acts in the Asia region with numerous hit songs such as "Don't Don" and "Sorry, Sorry" under their belt.
Super Junior-M, composed of members Siwon, Donghae, Henry, Zhou Mi, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Eunhyuk and Sungmin, released their first album ‘迷 (Me)' and received the award for Best Group in 2008 and followed it up with their first mini-album “SUPER GIRL” in September 2009.
They have been promoting their second mini-album "Perfection," which was released on February 25 that has topped a number of music charts in China and Taiwan.
