FTIsland songs selected as soundtrack for new Japanese drama

Two songs from Korean rock band FTIsland’s upcoming album have been selected as the soundtracks for a new Japanese drama, informed their agency FNC Music on Thursday.

According to a press release by FNC today, two songs from “FIVE TREASURE ISLAND,” which will be FT Island’s first regular album in Japan set for release on May 18, have been chosen as soundtracks to Japanese drama “Muscle Girl” scheduled to go on air on TBS TV starting April 19.

The two selected songs are “Haruka” (ハルカ) and “Itsuka” (いつか), the former, chosen as the theme song for the TV series.

“Muscle Girl,” a combination of sports drama and a romantic comedy starring Japanese actress Yui Ichikawa and FT Island vocalist Lee Hong-gi, is about a female president of a small pro wrestling organization whose path gets entangled with a popular Korean star in the process of turning around the wrestling business.

Meanwhile, FTIsland is also set to release their new Japanese single “SATISFACTION” featuring vocals of frontman Lee Hong-gi and member Lee Jae-jin and rap by Song Seung-hyen on April 20.

The song is currently the ending theme for a Japanese animation called "toriko" which began its air on Fuji TV on Sunday.

Composed of other members Choi Min-hwan and Choi Jong-hoon, FTIsland released their first album "Cheerful Sensibility" in 2007 and followed it up with several singles and studio albums including "Colorful Sensibility," "Cross and Change" and recently "beautiful journey."

They expanded their career into Japan in 2008 with two single albums “Flower Rock” and “Brand-new days" and has seen three of their singles rank within the top 10 slots of the Oricon albums chart.
