Korean film "Bleak Night" has won an award at the 35th annual Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), which kicked off in Hong Kong last weekend.


The official webpage of the HKIFF announced that "Bleak Night," helmed by Korean director Yoon Sung-hyun, won the FIPRESCI Prize, which promotes film and art and encourages new and young cinema, while being nominated for the SIGNIS Award that recognizes professionals in the film industry.

"Bleak Night" tells the story of three high school students Ki-tae (Lee Je-hoon), Dong-yoon (Seo Jun-young) and Hee-june (Park Jung-min) who have a falling after a misunderstanding which leads to group assault and the death of one them.


Meanwhile, nine other Korean films have been invited to the film fest including "Oki's Movie," "Come Rain, Come Shine," "The Man from Nowhere," "The Unjust," "Anti Gas Skin," "Self Referential Traverse: Zeitgeist and Engagement," "Bleak Night," "The Journals of Musan" and "I Saw the Devil."

The Hong Kong International Film Festival is a platform for filmmakers, professionals and filmgoers from all over the world to launch and experience new work in the industry. Attendees at the festival will be able to take part in seminars, conferences, exhibitions and parties revolving the film community.

The event is also a premiere platform to launch films into the Greater China region and the Asian market. The festival will run from March 20 to May 4.
