2NE1 member Park Bom to kick off solo activities

Korean girl band 2NE1 member Park Bom is set to kick off her solo activities to promote her first single "You and I", according to her agency on Tuesday.

"We had initially decided that Park wouldn't perform on television because 2NE1 was scheduled to release a full-length album and we wanted to focus on that," an official at YG explained in a press release. "But the release date for the album has been pushed back so it will be possible for Park to carry out her solo activities."

The official explained that the release date got delayed because there was "a lot of pressure" for YG to produce the album after the group's big success with singles "Lollipop", "Fire" and their first mini-album.

Park's first solo single "You and I' has topped various music charts in Korea since its release on October 28. The song is reportedly the most downloaded ringtone on the Internet.

The 25-year-old singer will be giving her first solo performance on SBS music show "Inkigayo" this coming Sunday.
