Korean actor Park Jae-jung will host the final day of festivities of the Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) next month, according to his agency Eyagi Entertainment.


On Tuesday, Eyagi announced in a press release that Park will take the stage for the closing ceremony of JIFF held at the Sori Arts Center in Jeonju city of the North Jeolla Province on May 6 alongside actress Kim Hye-na.

"The passion and the way Park expresses himself through his acting on the big and small screen is in line with the ideology of the Jeonju International Film Festival," an official from JIFF was quoted as saying in explaining the reason on choosing Park to host the closing ceremony.


First launched in 2000, the Jeonju International Film Festival focuses on various aspects of the industry including digital, independent and art films. It is one of the main annual film festivals in Korea alongside the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival.

This year, the festival which will run from April 28 till May 6, will feature over 200 films from over 40 countries that will be screened under six different categories including JIFF Project, Competition, Cinemascape, Cinemafest, Stranger Than Cinema and Focus On.

Park made his debut in KBS' TV series "I Am Sam" in 2007 and has since appeared in other shows such as "Queen Seon-duk (2009)" and "Coffee House (2010)." He has also starred in MBC reality show "We Got Married" alongside Korean girl group After School member U-ie.
