MC Mong to hold fan meeting in Japan

Hip-hop artist MC Mong will hold a solo fan meeting in Japan for the first time next year, according to his agency on Monday.

MA Wilddog Entertainment said the rapper will invite 2,000 fans in Japan to his "MC MONG With Happy New Year Live & Talk" fan meeting to be held at the Hibiya Public Hall in Tokyo on January 22.

"He had been receiving numerous requests to make an appearance in Japan again after holding a joint concert with group V.O.S. earlier in February but had not been able to due to his schedule in Korea and working on his album," MA explained.

Frau, in charge of organizing MC Mong's upcoming fan meeting, said they expect the event to attract many young fans. "He has a mania fanbase and many fans who love his previous hit songs," the company explained.

MC Mong, whose real name is Shin Dong-hyun, is one of the most successful entertainers in the country. He debuted as a member of hip-hop group People Crew in 1998 but started gaining recognition in sitcom "Nonstop 4" and made a breakthrough with his first solo album in 2004. All five of his full-length studio records have been major hits.

He also makes regular appearances on popular KBS variety show "1 Night 2 Days" and runs his own online clothing shopping mall.
