US punk-pop band Green Day will give their first performance in Korea in January next year, according to the concert's organizer on Tuesday.

Hyundai Card announced through a press release that the California rock trio would hold a concert on January 18 at the Olympic Park in Seoul.

Green Day, composed of vocalist-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool, has sold over 60 million copies of their album since their debut in 1989.

The band won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 2006 and reclaimed their position as one of the world's favorite rock bands this year with their latest studio album "21st Century Breakdown" selling over 500,000 copies in the shortest period for a pop album.
