TV program on Gaon chart to be made in Japan

A television program will be made out of Korea's integrated Korean pop music chart Gaon, the Korea Music Content Industry Association (KMCIA) announced on Friday.

A press release by KMCIA said that famed Japanese agency Digital Adventure will create a show that introduces Korea's popular tunes and music videos, as well as features interviews with artists based on the Gaon chart.

The show will then go on air on broadcasting stations BS Fuji and DATV starting in late January of next year, the statement added.

Also, singer-actor Kim Jeong-hoon, a popular name in Japan, will host the upcoming show whose first recording will take place at Yokohama's Pacifico Yokohama on January 9.

Gaon, established in December 2008, is Korea's first officially recognized music chart with data accumulated from online and offline sales statistics from the country's major web-based providers and record distribution companies.
