Pentaport Rock Festival announces 1st lineup
The first lineup for the annual Pentaport Rock Festival to be held in Incheon City has been announced, according to the official website of the music fest on Friday.
Six international artists including Korn, the Plain White T's, Neon Trees, !!!, Mamas Gun and Joe Brooks will rock out at the 2011 Pentaport Rock Festival which will take place at Incheon's Dream Park from August 5 to 7.
Local artists who will grace the stage with these singers are Garion, No Brain, Schizo, Vassline, Prana, IDIOTAPE, Galaxy Express, The Geeks, Vidulgi OoyoO, Hwang Bo Ryung=SmackSoft and 13 steps.
Korn, composed of members Jonathan Davis, James "Munky" Shaffer, Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu and Ray Luzier, first formed in 1993 in Bakerfield, California. They are well-known for their hit songs "Right Now," "A.D.I.D.A.S." and "Freak on a Leash."
They previously performed in Korea with their first show with noted Korean rocker Seo Taiji in 2004 followed by their solo concert two years later.
American pop rock band Plain White T's is well known for their hits such as "Hey There Deliah” and "1,2,3,4," which achieved platinum status in 2007 and 2009, respectively.
Neon Trees rose to popularity in 2008 as the opening acts for The Killers' North American tour. The band signed with major record label Mercury Records and released their first full-length album "Habits" last year. The first single "Animal" has climbed into the top 20 spot on the prestigious Billboard charts as well as topping its Alternative rock chart.
!!!, whose name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie "The Gods Must Be Crazy," is a dance-punk band which first formed in Sacramento, California in 1996. They released their self-titled first full-length album in 2000 and has since produced songs such as "Hello? Is This Thing On?," "Heart of Hearts" and "AM/FM."
Mamas Gun is a five-member soul funk band based in London. They have released their debut album "Routes to Riches" in 2009 and have toured over nine countries with the album. Later that year, the band became an overnight success in Japan and are slated to release their second album next month.
Joe Brooks is a British singer-songwriter and began his music career after posting his music on the popular networking site Myspace. He then signed with a major record label and released his first single "Superman" in 2010 followed by his debut album "Constellation Me."
Pentaport Rock Festival, sponsored by the city of Incheon, first began in 2006 and received its name from Incheon city's strategy to develop further in the areas of airport, seaport, teleport, business-port and leisure-port.
Tickets for the rock festival is currently available on various online shopping websites, while the second lineup is set to be announced in mid-June.
