Girls' Generation to release first full-length Japanese album next month
Korean female idols Girls' Generation will release their first full-length Japanese album next month, according to the group's official Japanese website on Monday.
The website revealed that the nine-member girl group will unveil their full-length album titled "GIRLS' GENERATION" on June 1, making it their first full-length release in the country since making their debut there eight months ago.
The record will feature 12 of their hit songs including "GENIE," "Gee," "Run Devil Run" and "MR. TAXI," while the album will be produced in three editions -- deluxe first press limited edition, limited edition and regular edition.
In the meantime, the girls are currently promoting their third Japanese single "MR. TAXI" which took the No. 1 spot on the prestigious Oricon's single chart a day after its release on April 27. They also gave their first performance of the song on Japan's Asahi TV music program "Music Station" last week.
Girls' Generation, one of the most well-known female idol groups in Asia, made their debut in Korea in 2007 under SM Entertainment with their first album "Into the New World" and have produced a several hit songs including "Gee," "Genie" and "Oh!"
The group then debuted in Japan in August of last year and have enjoyed much success there as well, becoming the first Korean girl group to place No. 1 on the Oricon chart and wining several gold disc status for their albums which sold over 100,000 copies including their first and second album “Genie” “Gee” and DVD “少女時代到 ~日記念盤~New Beginning of Girls' Generation.”
The group is now preparing for a nationwide tour in Japan where they will hold 10 concerts in six cities starting with Osaka on May 31 and then head off to Tokyo, Saitama, Hiroshima, Nagoya and Fukuoka till July 17.
