Deadmau5 to play in Seoul in May
Canadian musician Deadmau5 will come to Korea next month, revealed the event’s organizer VU Entertainment on Thursday.
According to a press release by VU, Deadmau5's upcoming concert titled “DEADMAU5 IN SEOUL” will take place at the Sheraton Grand Walkerhill Theater on May 9.
This will not be his first time playing in Korea -- he previously performed at Club Answer in Seoul in March 2009.
Deadmau5, who has showed a talent in combining electronic sound with techno and the drum, is one of the most noted producers of electronic and house music who debuted with album “Get Scraped” in 2006.
He was named the Best Electro House Artist and Best Progressive House Artist at the Beatport Music Awards for two consecutive years in 2008 and 2009, as well as winning the award for Best Single with album “Not Exactly” in 2009.
Later, he won the Juno Award for Dancing Recording of the Year three years in-a-row with albums “All You Ever Want,” (2008) “Random Album Title” (2009) and “For Lack of Better Name” (2010).
Last year, his music “More Ghosts N Stuff” was also honored as the official music for the medal awarding ceremony of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
The 30-year-old musician, whose real name is Joel Thomas Zimmerman, got his present name from an unusual incident that involved discovering a dead mouse inside an old computer while trying to change a video card. Since then he became known as “That dead mouse guy” online in which he decided to keep the title.
