Actress Han Ye-seul will make her return to small screen after a year and half hiatus, playing the role of a North Korean spy in an upcoming KBS TV series.

On Thursday, major Korean broadcaster KBS announced in a press release that Han will take on the role of Han Myung-wol who is a beautiful North Korean spy that falls in love with a popular Hallyu star in the new Monday and Tuesday primetime series "Spy Myung-wol (translated title)."

"We thought that the best candidate to play Myung-rul would be Han Ye-seul," an official from KBS was quoted as saying. "She has been able to show her unique personality through the various roles she portrayed in her previous dramas and we feel that she will be great for the new series."

"Spy Myung-wol," will be helmed by Hwang In-hyuk whose works include "The Iron Empress" and "SungKyunKwan Scandal," will premiere in early July after soon-to-air series "Baby Faced Beauty" finishes its run.
