Boy band TVXQ secured the top slot on Mnet's weekly cable music show "M! CountDown" yesterday with their latest song "Why (Keep Your Head Down)" in the first time of appearing on the show in two years.

TVXQ had started promoting the title track from their album of the same name on televised shows since early this month but all of SM's artists including Super Junior, Girls’ Generation and SHINee had not appeared on the show due to an apparent rift between SM and Mnet.

"We'll keep doing our best," TVXQ members said with a smile in their acceptance speech, after also giving performances of songs “How Can I” and “Maximum” from their latest release.

TVXQ, formerly a five-member band, is now back as a male duo composed of U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin after members Junsu, Yuchun and Jaejung filed a lawsuit against agency SM Entertainment and separately formed trio JYJ.

Yesterday's show also featured the comeback performances of Big Bang member Seungri's new song “WHAT CAN I DO” and "V.V.IP," SS501 Park Jung-min's “Not Alone” and songstress G.NA's “Black & White.”
