Japanese drama "URAKARA" starring Korean idol group Kara will go on air in Korea later this month, announced the group’s agency DSP Media today.

DSP explained in its press release on Tuesday that Korean entertainment firm CJ Media, which invested directly in “URAKARA,” will air the series via its own cable channel tvN under the title “The Double Life of Kara” around late January.

CJ Media, one of Korea’s major distributors of entertainment content and the owner of several cable channels, recently partnered with several Japanese firms in similar fields including major DVD distributor SPO, for its latest TV production.

"URAKARA," a 12-part series shot in both Korea and Japan and set to go on air in Japan starting January 14 in TV Tokyo’s “Drama 24” past midnight every Friday, will have the girls appear as spies with the special mission of winning the hearts of the men of their dreams -- from Japanese politicians to star athletes and top chefs.

Kara leader Gyu-lee will appear as a character who is passive and cautious toward the idea of love while Seung-yeon is a believer of perfect timing and Nicole a romanticist filled with fantasies of love. Hara, burns with passion and youngest member Ji-young places logic ahead of feelings.

DSP's statement added that the upcoming drama, a mixture of reality and fiction, will also feature live performances by the girls as well as their hidden thoughts through conversations.

Kara made a debut with their first album "Blooming" in 2007 and are well known for their hit songs "Mister," "Wanna" and "Lupin."
