K-pop groups Girls' Generation and f(x) have been named spokes models for new LG mobile phones, their agency said on Tuesday.

The two popular girl bands have been selected to advertise the "new chocolate phone", the fourth installment of LG CYON's Black Label series, SM Entertainment announced in a press release.

"Girls' Generation has a huge fan base across all age groups and has the musical ability to lead the current girl-group trend", explained LG of the reason they chose the nine-member girl group. "They are also great at pulling off various looks -- from innocent to sophisticated."

Newcomers f(x) who debuted with a showcase on September 1 with the single "Lachata", are composed of five members with an average age of 16.6. They are better recognized by their strong and powerful image.

LG said the contrast between the two groups will help in promoting the phone.
