South Korean film "Old Partner" continues to be invited to film festivals overseas after breaking indie box office records last year.


The film has been invited to show at eight film festivals between September and October, including the Calgary International Film Festival in Canada, the Hawaii International Film Festival and the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival, said distributor of the movie IndieStory in a press release on Tuesday.

"Partner" is also preparing for release in the United States in September, Canada in November and Japan in December, explained IndieStory.


The pic previously attended other overseas film fests such as Sundance, Philadelphia and Sarasota.

“Partner”, directed by Lee Chung-ryoul, is about an old farmer couple and their lifelong friendship with an old partner, a 40-year-old ox.


The film started by showing on only seven screens in Korea but attracted close to three million viewers, the highest figure for a documentary.
