Son Dambi confirmed for Ahn Jae-wook series
Singer Son Dambi has been confirmed for an upcoming series starring actor Ahn Jae-wook, according to the drama's promoter iMC on Thursday.
A press release by iMC said that Son will play a girl named Yoo Chae-young who is the main singer of a show group in the drama titled "Light and Shadow" (translated title).
Yoo, a character that is never satisfied with where she is and suffers from the pressure of having to succeed, will come to fall in love with Korea's first man in show business who will be played by Ahn.
The series will revolve around the life of this man while also depicting on the main events which occurred in Korean history from the 1960s to present day Korea.
"I'm a singer in the series so I think my actual experience as a singer has helped with understanding my character. I'll do my best as much as this'll be a chance for me to show both my singing and acting," Son was quoted as saying.
An official with the drama's producer said, "From the very beginning we had a singer-turned-actor in mind for the role and Son was the right person for it."
Producer Lee Joo-hwan and writer Choi Wan-kyu of the famed "Jumong" series from 2006 will come together to create the upcoming 50-part series set for a premiere in November, after current show "Gyebaek."

Son, 28, has been one of the more well-recognized singers in Korea since her debut in the country in 2007 and she tried her hand at acting through SBS TV series "Dream" with Kim Bum in 2009.
