Park Hae-jin cast in new Chinese drama
Actor Park Hae-jin has been cast in a Chinese drama, informed his agency W.M. Company on Wednesday.
W.M. confirmed over the phone with 10Asia today that Park was decided as the male lead in a Chinese drama titled “Qian Duo Duo Jia Ren Ji,” translated into "A marriage record of Qian Duo Duo," in early March.
The drama, which is co-produced by a Chinese film company and Korean public broadcaster MBC, with the latter company involved in casting and assisting the show's production, cranked in early this month.
The drama, a 25-part series based on a romance novel which was a best seller in the country for two years straight, will cover the romance between a young and rich businessman from Korea which will be played by Park and an ambitious career woman in China, played by actress Li Xiao Ran who appeared in the 2006 Hong Kong film “Dragon Tiger Gate.”
The drama is expected to go on air in China around November of this year and show on a satellite channel in Korea later on.
Park, 27, became a household name in Korea for his debut role in "Famous Princesses" (KBS, 2006) and has since starred in various dramas including "Like Land and Sky," (KBS, 2007) "East of Eden," (MBC, 2008) and "Hot Blood" (KBS, 2009).
He gained recognition in China, again for “Famous Princesses,” which was later aired in the Hunan province in 2009 and placed him in various top slots of polls on favorite actors on the mainland as well leading him to become the model for local fashion clothing company LIVEX.
Meanwhile, he also debuted as a singer in Japan this February with single album “Fate Oath” (translated title) which took 27th place on the prestigious Oricon daily chart upon the day of its release and No.2 on Oricon's Indie singles weekly chart.
