Girls' Generation wins top prize once again at Seoul Music Awards

Korean female idols Girls' Generation won four awards -- including the grand prize -- at the 20th High1 Seoul Music Awards yesterday.

Along with the top prize, the girls collected the Main Prize, Hallyu Special Prize and the High1 Popularity Prize at the annual event held at the Grand Peace Palace located in Kyung-hee University of Seoul.

"It's a great way to start off the new year with this great honor. We want to thank everyone at our agency as well as our fellow singers," the members of Girls' Generation said in their acceptance speech. "We also made our debut into Japan last year and it will give us a chance to introduce Korean music to the whole world."

Boy band SHINee, 2AM and IU scored the Main Prize during the ceremony, while all three took home separate awards for High1 Popularity Prize, Best R&B and Best Digital Sound Source Award, respectively.

Other artists that won the Main Prize include miss A, Son Dambi, Secret, 4minute, FTIsland and BEAST, while the Best New Artist Award went to The Boss, Sistar and CNBLUE.
