Singer Kim Bum-soo’s ballad “Please” shot up 87 spots to claim No. 1 on Mnet’s singles chart during the week of March 28 to April 3.

Kim had sung “Please,” that pleads a lover for another chance, on public broadcaster MBC’s Sunday reality show “I’m A Singer” that shows seven of the top Korean singers in the country competing against each other.

The latest mission for the singers was to perform each other's hit songs in which Kim landed with "Please," originally from songstress Lee So-ra’s fourth album released in 2000.

All songs sung on the show, on air since early March, have been on sale and seen much popularity.

Meanwhile, previous winner “Intuition” sung by rock band CNBLUE, got pushed back a step to land on second place.

“Intuition,” which is the title song for the group’s first regular album “FIRST STEP,” sings of the ominous intuition one has of breaking up with his lover.

Songstress Baek Ji-young’s ballad “Promise,” also performed during the same MBC singing competition, reached the No. 3 spot after making a dramatic leap of 116 steps.

“Promise” that vows to wait for the lover to return, was originally the title track to Kim Bum-soo’s first album released in 1999.

The popularity of the latest music show has also been reflected on the albums chart, placing its latest album “I’m A Singer: Competition 2 - Swapping Hit Songs” at No. 1.

The album which has climbed 23 steps to reach the top, contains several hit songs of the 90s performed by different singers.

Second on the chart was CNBLUE’s first full-length album “FIRST STEP,” released late last month and made up of 12 tracks including “One Time” and “I Don’t Know Why” which, upon earlier release in Japan were ranked first on the weekly Oricon Indies Chart and No. 8 on Oricon singles daily chart.

The album “I’m A Singer: Competition 1 - Singing Hit Songs of the 80s” which claimed second place last week, went down a notch to take the third spot.
