Famed director Kang Je-gyu's Hollywood debut movie "My Way" will be presented at the film market of the 64th annual Festival de Cannes next month, making it the first Korean film to do so.

The film's distributor SK Telecom and CJ Entertainment announced on Tuesday that "My Way," starring Jang Dong-gun, Japanese actor Odagiri Joe and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, will be presented to foreigner buyers during the film festival running from May 11 till 22.

"My Way" tells about an Asian soldier (played by Jang) who was captured by the Japanese army and later turned over to the German Nazis during World War II.

The historical film, scheduled to open simultaneously in Korea and Japan in December, cranked in October last year and was shot in various locations including Korea, Germany and China.

Kang is often dubbed the Steven Spielberg of East Asia, having produced several of Korea's top films including 1999's hit film "Swiri" and 2004's epic "Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War" which is the third most-watched Korean film in box office history.
