Avril Lavigne to hold fifth Korea concert in May
Canadian rock princess Avril Lavigne will perform in Korea for the fifth time in May, informed local live entertainment organizer Ally & Co on Tuesday.
According to a press release by AllY & Co, Lavigne’s “The Black Star Tour In Seoul 2011,” which will mark the start to Lavigne’s Asia tour this year, will take place at AX-Korea hall in Seoul on May 5.
After performing in Korea which promotes her fourth album “Goodbye Lullaby,” Lavigne will then go to other countries in Asia including China, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Lavigne’s concerts in Korea have always been received well in Korea, especially the ones held in 2003 and 2004 that were complete sellouts. The singer-songwriter herself has described her Korean fans as “best & loud.”
Lavigne, who debuted at 17, rose to stardom with her first album “Let Go” in 2002 which sold 16 million copies worldwide with some of her hit songs including “Sk8er Boi,” “Complicated,” “Under my skin,” “I’m with you,” “When you’re gone,” “Girlfriend,” “My Happy Ending“ and “What the hell.”
She continued her way up with other albums “Under My Skin” (2004) and “The Best Damn Thing”, (2007) selling 30 million copies worldwide and was nominated for Grammy awards eight times.
She has also launched her fashion brand “Abbey Dawn,” perfume brand “Black Star” and “Forbidden Rose” and a charity organ named Avril Lavigne Foundation on top of pursuing a career as an actress.
