Korean actress Kim Hye-ja has won the award for Best Actress at China's Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival for her role in the film "Mother", according to a press release on Friday.
The Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival -- considered China's equivalent of the Academy Awards -- combines the Golden Rooster votes by critics and industry experts and the Hundred Flowers votes submitted by the general public. The audience watch the film and directly cast votes to the film that they think is best.
"Mother", which co-stars Hallyu star Won Bin as the mentally disturbed son, has been sold to 12 countries including Australia, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Portugal and U.S.
The film is set to open in Hong Kong on November 19 and will sequentially open in other countries.
