Features by critically acclaimed Korean directors Hong Sang-soo and Kim Ki-duk have been invited to the 46th annual Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KV IFF) next month.


According to its official website on Tuesday, director Hong's film "The Day He Arrives" and Kim's movie "Arirang" will be screened under the ‘Another View’ category at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival to be held in Carlsbad, Czech Republic from July 1 to 9.

‘Another View’ features works experimenting with form and content or those revealing an uncommon creative approach.


"The Day He Arrives," which stars Yu Jun-sang, Song Sun-mi and Kim Sang-joong, tells the story of a young film professor that reunites with his mentor in a small village for a three-day stint.

"Arirang," helmed by and starring Kim who plays three personas, is a one-man show on the timeline of his own life in the movie industry as he reflects on the 15 feature films that he has directed as well as the people that he has encountered.


Both films were screened under the Un Certain Regard category during the 64th Cannes Film Festival, while "Arirang" was awarded the top prize of Ex-aequo at the fest.

Karlovy Vary International Film Festival was first founded in 1946 with over 200 new films from all over the world are screened. The festival also features various seminars regarding the European film market.
