YG Ent chief says Big Bang Daesung "in extreme shock"
Yang Hyun-suk, the chief of boy band Big Bang's agency YG Entertainment, has said that member Daesung is "in extreme shock" over his involvement in a car accident today which has left one person dead.
"Daesung is in extreme shock and sadness from the accident," Yang told 10Asia over the phone on Tuesday. "So much that we haven't thought about what's going to happen his ongoing activities."
Daesung is currently one of the show hosts of SBS's weekly talk show "Night After Night" and was also set to start working with his group on their next album after returning from a two-week tour in Japan to promote the release their second full-length album there.
"The most important thing is the sadness we feel over the deceased person and that Daesung calms himself. We don't have time for anything else," Yang also said.
Daesung, currently at home after five hours of questioning, ran into a taxi and motorcyclist at the end of Yanghwa Bridge in Seoul around 1:30 a.m. today.
Police have said the taxi's driver had stopped his vehicle to call police after discovering the motorcyclist on the ground and bleeding, apparently from another accident, when Daesung hit them after failing to see them in time.
The taxi driver suffered minor injuries but the motorcyclist is dead and police are now carrying out further investigation into whether Daesung was the cause of the death.
Daesung is a member of Big Bang, one of the most popular boy bands in Korea since their debut in 2006 with numerous hit songs under their belt.
