Korean idol Hyung-sik of boy band ZE:A will make his debut as musical actor, taking on the male lead alongside Super Junior member Ryeowook in an upcoming production.

A press release from his agency Star Empire Entertainment on Tuesday said that Hyung-sik has been cast for the role of Ban Hae-woon in the upcoming musical "Temptation of Wolves (translated title)" which is set to open its curtains at the Hyundai Art Hall in COEX Artium starting July 12.

"Temptation of Wolves," based on the popular internet novel by author Guiyeoni in 2003 and film "Romance of the their Own (2004)," tells of the romance triangle between two guys and a girl which was played by actors Gang Dong-won, Jo Han-sun and actress Lee Chung-ah.

Hyung-sik will take over the role that Jo played in the movie, while Ryeowook is set to play the character Jung Tae-sung which was played by Gang.

"I'm nervous and excited that I will be making my debut in a musical based on one of the movies that I enjoyed watching," Hyung-sik was quoted as saying.

Hyung-sik made his debut as one of the main vocals in the nine-member boy band ZE:A (Children of Empire) in January of last year. They released their first mini-album "Nativity" which produced the hit song "Mazeltov" and followed it up with other albums "Leap For Detonation" and "Level Up."

They expanded their singing careers into the music market in Japan after performing on music program "SEOUL TRAIN," which introduces K-pop artists to local fans, in early March 2010 and signed with Japanese entertainment company IMX two months later.

The boys returned to the local music scene in mid-March with their first full-length album "LOVABILITY" and have been busy promoting the title track "Here I Am" on various televised music programs.
